NBHE helping New Orleans homeschooling families and evacuees.

The New Orleans public school systems are destroyed, and surrounding area schools cannot handle the influx of so many needy students. Some of Katrina's Homeschooling Survivors

Ronnie and Nadine Heisser, a homeschooling family from one of New Orleans hardest hit areas are now survivors in Atlanta, Georgia. After not hearing from Ronnie's parents for nearly four days, the family only thought the worst. But blessings to the Lord, Ronnie's parents were recused and are now in route to join them in Altanta, GA. The Heisser family lost their homes and businesses due to Katrina.

Charles and Geralyn Garrison from New Orleans are safe in the northern part of Louisiana. NBHE tried contacting this family for days, but to no avail. On Thursday evening, September 8, 2005, a call was made to NBHE and we were informed the Garrison family is doing fine. This family also lost most of their belongings due to hurricane Katrina.

Eric and Janelle Rhodes, NBHE Children's Conference Coordinator, are also survivors of Katrina. However, they did lose most of their belongings as well.

An Ohio homeschooling family drove to Louisiana to pick-up a family and took them back to Ohio with them.

HSLDA has set up a fund to assist homeschooling survivors. They also coordinating homeschooling families across the country as they open their homes to Louisiana survivors.
